What is Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library?
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is … FREE!
It sounds almost too simple to be true, but by reading regularly with your children during their early years – from birth! – you are giving them the biggest boost toward success they will ever get.Dolly Parton has partnered with Penguin publishing company to offer low cost, carefully selected titles that are development appropriate for children ages birth to 5 years. These books are mailed each month to the child's home absolutely free. Volunteers organize community sign-up events, coordinate with local agencies, and raise funds to sponsor children in the program (at a yearly cost of only $30/child). For more information about Imagination Library, go to their website at www.imaginationlibrary.com.
June 2010 Bob the Builder Events at the Palmer, Wasilla and Big Lake Libraries.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will help you read with your child. Every child will have books of their very own, at no cost to you, thanks to The Dollywood Foundation. A grant for from Best Beginnings, donations from Wasilla Sunrise Rotary Club, Susitna Rotary, Friends of the Wasilla Library, and Communities in Schools - Alaska, each contributed money to start the birth to age 5 reading program in the Meadow Lakes area of the Mat-Su Borough. Best Beginnings grant moneys are a combination of funds from Rasmuson Foundation, Conoco-Phillips, and the Alaska Dept of Ecucation & Early Development.
Each month a new, carefully-selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. He/she can look forward to new and exciting reading adventures from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library until he/she turns five years old, as long as you remain a resident of the Mat-Su Borough. Should the child move outside the boundaries, he/she automatically exits the program.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a FREE GIFT to our children! All you have to do is read to them.Who is Eligible? Register Online
